What Quizcam does

Quizcam is a study app for iPhone and iPad built around one idea: the fastest way to go from having notes to actively testing yourself on them. You snap a photo of handwritten notes, scan several pages at once, pick an image from your photo library, or import a PDF, and Quizcam uses OCR and AI to write multiple-choice quiz questions from your material in seconds. Long PDFs are split into rounds instead of one endless quiz. See it in detail on the features page.

No manual card creation. No typing. No formatting. Just your notes, and a ready-to-play quiz that tests you on exactly what you need to know.

After each answer, not just each quiz, you get an explanation drawn from your own material, plus a hint per question while you are still working on it. The quiz then joins a daily review built on spaced repetition: wrong answers come back sooner, right ones later, and you can enter your exam date so the schedule works towards it. Reviewing quizzes you already made is free forever.

Any quiz can also be sent as a duel link. Whoever opens it plays the same questions in their browser, with no app, no account and no sign-up, and you both land on the same leaderboard. You can play a five-question round here to see what that looks like.

Why we built it

Most students study by re-reading. It feels productive. But decades of cognitive science research show that re-reading is one of the least effective ways to build long-term memory. Active recall (testing yourself on material) consistently beats it: in the best-known experiment, students who quizzed themselves remembered 61% of a text a week later, those who re-read it 40%.

The problem has always been the gap between "I have notes" and "I'm testing myself on them." Creating flashcards or practice questions manually takes hours. ChatGPT requires typing and prompting. Pre-made question banks don't cover your specific material.

Who made Quizcam

Quizcam is an independent app developed and maintained by Julius Schröder, based in Hamburg, Germany. It is built for students in the US and English-speaking markets, and is also available in German and Spanish, with a focus on simplicity, speed, and a clean user experience.
